06 - The Mystical Female

[ Mentioned in 列子 Lizǐ (~ 440-360) as pre-Lǎozĭ rhymed (aa bbbb) teaching, going back to the 'Yellow Emperor'.

[ Alternative interpretation: life-prolonging brea-thing techniques by 河上公 Hshng Gōng ridi-culed by 庄子 Zhuāngzǐ (~ 365-290) in ch. XV.

 01-06

The spirit of the valley is immortal:

 called the dark female...

 Mystic female's gate

 called Heaven's and Earth's root:

 intangible, though seemingly existing

 inexhaustible its use.

01 "The 'Spirit of the valley' is the non-valley in the middle of the valley" [王弼 Wng B / Wagner, 2000, 210].
 The Spirit (
ch. 29) of the valley (ch. 39.04-05) is form- and motionless,
passive-low (ch. 66, 32; 28)   as the empty middle surrounded by fullness (ch. 11, 5), calm as the highest entity.

This Yin perspective of the Do is like a riverbed's never ending flowing out, never dying its stream of coming into being.

02 Called (), not defined () mysterious, dark (~Heaven) and female (~Earth): the transcendent, nameless, inexhaustible Do, once through the par-turient canal of the Gate, becomes womb and nurturing mother of 'every-thing'.

03-04 That mystic female's gate (ch. 1) between Beginning and Mother, gives life to Yin and Yang as the basis of all entities, also called the root (source and origin; ch. 16) of Heaven and Earth.

05-06 Intangible: Do is immaterial and inconcei-vable, but still just as if existing: ... like a (never-ending) silken string, wished that it exists, it does not show its form, wished... that it does not exist, all entities are generated by it.
 In
exhaustible: no entity is not completed by it, but while being used, Do always gives effortlessly.

hilmar alquiros, 2017

XV.

 01-06:

Unsterblich ist der Geist des Tals:

 genannt das dunkle Weibliche ...

 Des mystisch Weiblichen Pforte,

 genannt aller Welt Uranfang:

stets mhelos.

列子 Li zǐ [Book of the Yellow Ancester]: "= ch. 6 from the Yellow Emperor".

* "Spirit of the valley" is the non-valley in the middle of the valley.
It [this spirit] is without form and contour, without contrariness and deviation; it resides in a lowly position [namely, the valley] and does not move, it keeps the calm and does not deteriorate. The valley is constituted by it, but it does not show its form. This is the highest entity.
Its lowly posotion [notwithstanding], there is no way to define it. That is why [Laozi only] "calls it" Dark Female [but does not "define" it as such]. "Door" is that on which the Dark Female is based.

Basically what it is based on has the same substance as the Taiji, the Great Ultimate [of the Xici 11 of the Zhouye which "creates the two mormations [Yin and Yang)".
That is why  [this door] is spoken of [by Laozi] as the "root of Heaven and Earth"! If one wished to state that it exists, [the objection would be that] it does not show its form.

If he wished to state that it does not exist, [it still remains true that] the ten thousand kinds of entities are generated by means of it.

That is why [the text says]: "Intangible it is but still it exists!"
There is no entity not completed [through it], but, while being used [in this  extensive manner], it does not labor [to have them completed].
That why the text] says: "Its being used does not exert it"!
